Why This Blog Exists
The North West is more than just a collection of counties; it is a region of immense contrast. While mainstream travel guides often skim the surface of the major hubs, North West Day Trips was created to document the ‘full’ story.
My mission is to provide a comprehensive view of the region, balancing the famous landmarks with the overlooked narratives that define our local identity.

About the Author
I am Mark, a North West-based writer and former educator with years of experience navigating the roads, trails, and high streets of this region. I have lived since 1994 in Chester, Manchester, and Southport, so I have plenty of experience of the region and its foibles (nice word, that!).
This blog is fuelled by a genuine commitment to regional storytelling, and giving my readers a fresh perspective. We can all look up Wikipedia to find out the dry facts, but I would rather give you the opportunity to read about a place from a human POV.
Every guide published here is a result of direct experience and/or deep research. I believe that to write about a place, you have to have a broader understanding that a map simply can’t provide.
