The afternoon birdsong was punctuated by the rat-a-tat of his two-stroke engine.

The Famous Panoramic Views

You can easily spot the impressive skyline of Liverpool rising in the distance. Even with so much cloud, we could still pick out the various conurbations and landmarks. The tall cranes of the modern Mersey docks stand out against the horizon.

On exceptionally clear days, you can even spot the mountains of the Lake District. The blue peaks rise like distant giants against the far edge of the sky. It is a fantastic spot for landscape photography at any time of day, as long as you are not me! Sunset is a particularly magical moment to stand on the high beacon ridge. The sky turns beautiful shades of orange, pink, and deep purple over the sea.
